Winner, IoT Partnership 2017
Insurance Nexus IoT Europe Awards
We are proud to have been recognised for our work with Zurich and VIVID Housing, from amongst a strong field of finalists, including Neosurance, Axa, Desjardins, Roost, Neos & Hiscox, to win the IoT Partnership 2017 award.
The challenge was to understand whether emerging Internet of Things technologies could make homes safer and reduce the number of insurance claims generated by issues within properties, such as escape of water.
Drawing on our Change Different approach, our subject matter knowledge of the Internet of Things and our thought-leadership in its application to the insurance sector, we ran a 10-week Agile pilot with Zurich Insurance and one of their housing association customers, VIVID. During the process, we developed our own sensors, built monitoring technologies in the cloud, installed equipment in a range of homes, and set up monitoring teams able to respond to incidents and proactive condition alerts. Through our Test & Learn approach, we identified several viable and non-viable business models, and are now looking at taking the viable concepts to scaled pilot stage. The project employed the core tenets of our Change Different methodology: test & learn & scale, customer co-design, and Agile collaboration.
Our learnings keep the insurer engaged with the evolving world of connected technologies, and give them insight into new business models, increase customer satisfaction, and drive benefits around housing stock management and resident quality of life.
Ninety brought a real breath of fresh air to the project: a new vision, a real drive and an understanding of the Internet of Things market, which was absolutely pivotal to the project. Everybody that we’ve worked with at Ninety has been absolutely fantastic.
